	Edith Irby Jones, M.D. 1952 Title Edith Irby Jones, M.D. 1952 Date of original image or object 1952 Description of content Senior class photograph of Edith Irby Jones, M.D. 1952. Dr. Jones was the first African-American graduate of the College of Medicine. Born in Conway, Dr. Jones earned her undergraduate degree from Knoxville College in 1948 and her medical degree from UAMS in 1952. She became the first woman president of the National Medical Association in 1985. In 2004, she was inducted into the College of Medicine's Hall of Fame. Notes File includes an undated photograph of Dr. Jones with Dr. Golden and Dr. Smith, probably at an alumni function. Also included are eight photographs of a Caduceus Club presentation of a portrait painting of Dr. Jones.
